This three-year project spanned from 1989 to 1992.
A total
of 70,000' of communication cable was installed from NJ to NY above roadway in the
exhaust ducts. From the main control room in NJ, communications was
established with 11 locations in NJ and NY. The purpose of this system was
to monitor temperature, pressure, flow, status and control the pumps, valves and
boilers, all components of the Fire Standpipe System. Response time from when a command was given in NJ to when the action took place
in NY was 2 seconds.
