MP3 files are digital audio files stored on a computer.  They can be played on either your computer speakers or by wiring your computer's sound out into your home amplifier in which case they will play on your home speakers as well.  If you need us to do the cabling, we are a phone call away.

The software used to do this comes with your computer, but we really recommend you download a free version of MusicMatch available through www.Download.com.   With MusicMatch software, you can turn your CDs into MP3s, organize them in alphabetical order by Artist, Album, Genre, Moods, Preference and Year.

Once installed on your computer, you can make up your own playlists and save them for future listening.  For example: instrumentals, kids, female vocalists, Cajun, 70's, mood music, holiday favorites, goofy stuff, etc., etc.  You are not limited to the number of songs in a playlist and your only limitation to the number of songs on the computer is the size of your hard drive.   If you need a new hard drive, once again, give us a call.

The use of MusicMatch is quite simple.  It looks like a VCR, CD or DVD player.   It has play, pause, forward, backwards, stop and even has a shuffle.  You can load so many songs into it that once it starts playing, it could go for weeks.

MP3s are not limited to the home.  MP3 players are readily available through most electronic retailers, Best Buy, Comp USA or Circuit City to name a few.  These devices range in various sizes, large enough to hold one hour of music up to the largest capable of storing over 6,000 songs.  You can use an MP3 player with headphones, wired into your home stereo or with a cassette adapter, it can be plugged into a cassette player in your car.

Once you have MP3s with a CD burner, you can start burning your own CDs for play in other players.  If you would like the flexibility to record and listen to your choice of music, then MP3s should be given serious thought.  You should also check out MP3.com for more information and free MP3 downloads.
